"Why is trauma the expectation and doubt the default"

Sam  MacDonald

Meet Your Doula

Hey there! My name is Sam. I’m a certified birth doula and breastfeeding counselor based in Central Arkansas, serving families in Hot Springs, Little Rock, Benton, Bryant, Texarkana, and the surrounding areas.

I became a doula while working on my own health and digging into the maternal health statistics here in the U.S. I couldn’t ignore what I was seeing; I knew I had to do something!

Now, I support first-time moms, VBAC hopefuls, and families carrying past birth trauma or anxiety into this pregnancy. I love working with families planning either a home birth or a hospital birth. My goal is simple: to help you feel informed, supported, and in control of your birth experience. If I can help even one woman feel truly satisfied and empowered during her birth, that’s a success in my book.

FAQ

Why hire a  doula?

01.

What does a doula do?

A doula provides continuous emotional, physical, informational, and advocacy support before, during, and shortly after birth. I don’t replace your medical team, I walk alongside you, help you understand your options, and create a steadier, more grounded experience.

02.

Do I have to want an unmedicated birth to work with you?

No. I support all kinds of births; medicated, unmedicated, and inductions. My role is to help you feel informed, emotionally safe, and connected to your own values, not to push any one “right” way to give birth.

03.

When should I reach out to a doula?

Many clients reach out in the second trimester so we have time to build trust, prepare together, and make a plan. If you’re later in pregnancy, you can still contact me, I’ll let you know about current availability and what support is possible.
