Birth Doula Support

Welcome to our comprehensive list of frequently asked questions. This page is designed to give you a full overview of how we walk alongside you during your birth journey, ensuring you feel informed and emotionally safe every step of the way.

01. What does a birth doula actually do?

A doula provides continuous physical, emotional, informational, and advocacy support. We help you navigate medical terminology, offer comfort measures like counter-pressure or positioning, and hold a safe, judgment-free space for your choices.

02. Do you support hospital births or just home births?

We support all birthing environments including hospitals, birth centers, and homes. Our goal is evidence-based care and autonomy, regardless of where you choose to bring your baby into the world.

03. Will a doula replace my partner's role?

Never. A doula’s presence often enhances the partner's role. We empower them to be the primary support person while offering them guidance and relief so they can stay focused and present.

04. When is the best time to hire a doula?

Most parents reach out during their second trimester (around 20-25 weeks). This allows us plenty of time for prenatal visits, relationship building, and comprehensive preparation for your unique birth plan.

05. Do you offer support for high-risk pregnancies?

Yes. Specialized, evidence-based support is even more vital in high-risk scenarios where clinical intervention is expected. We help you navigate the medical system with confidence and maintain your autonomy.

06. What happens if you are unable to attend my birth?

While it is rare, we always have a vetted and trusted backup doula on call. You will be introduced to them during our relationship building phase so that you feel safe and comfortable no matter what.

Photography Details

01.

When is the best time to book?

We recommend scheduling your session between 30 and 34 weeks. This ensures your bump is beautifully prominent while you are still feeling energetic and comfortable enough for the session.

02.

What should I wear?

Wear whatever makes you feel most like yourself. I leave time for two full outfits—many clients choose one dressier look and one more casual, everyday outfit, but you’re welcome to do two of the same style if you prefer.

03.

How long until I see my gallery?

You will receive a sneak peek within 48 hours of your session. Your full, carefully curated and edited digital gallery will be delivered to your inbox within 3 weeks.

04.

Can my partner join us?

Absolutely. I focus on documented connection, and including your partner and older children is a beautiful way to honor the transition your entire family is making together.

Breastfeeding Support

This section holds the comprehensive list of questions regarding our breastfeeding support and specialized counseling. We believe that evidence-based information is the starting point for every empowered feeding journey.

What does a breastfeeding counseling session involve?

01.

Sessions are tailored to your unique needs. We observe a feeding session, examine latch dynamics, explore different positioning strategies, and troubleshoot any physical discomfort or milk supply concerns to ensure a sustainable journey.

Can you provide support if I’m returning to work?

02.

Absolutely. Together we will create a realistic pumping schedule, discuss storage safety, and navigate the transition back to the workplace while maintaining your supply and emotional connection.

Do you offer sessions in my home or a clinic?

03.

I primarily provide in-home consultations across Central Arkansas. Being in your own environment helps us address real-world feeding dynamics and physical comfort in the space you use most.

Is breastfeeding counseling covered by insurance?

04.

While coverage varies widely, many health plans reimburse for lactation support. I can provide a superbill for you to submit to your insurance provider for potential reimbursement of consultation fees.
